Operation Compassion Participates in K-9 Drug Enforcement Training
Operation Compassion, a bemnevolent organization with ties to the Church of God, recently participated with the 8th Judicial Drug Task Force in a national K-9 training exercise involving semi-trucks. Twenty-six drug enforcement dog/handler teams from Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana and Tennessee took part in the multi-day training event held in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The purpose of the exercise was to familiarize the dog/handler teams with the semi-trucks and the numerous areas drugs could be hidden. Trainers hid different types of drugs and the dog/handler teams worked the truck to find it. Operation Compassion was asked to provide three semi-trucks located in different areas of our yard. One by one, each team was called from a staging area about ¼ of a mile away. The idea was to make the “stops” as realistic as possible for the officers and their K-9 partners.
Operation Compassion was only too eager to help our local law enforcement in this training event. Participating in these types of events only makes our communities and highways safer. Each participating K-9 unit was successful in discovering the hidden drugs and can be more confident the next time they search a semi-truck.
