Youth Department Prepares for Largest Winterfest Weekend
The leadership of the Church of God International Youth and Christian Education Department is extremely excited about the upcoming Smoky Mountain Winterfest. It is a highlight event of the Youth and Christian Education calendar each year.
Flood Warning is the theme for Smoky Mountain Winterfest in Knoxville, Tenn. Approximately 18,000 youth, youth leaders and leadership will be in attendance at the newly-refurbished Thompson-Boling Arena, March 14-16, 2008. Joel 2:28 says, And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
David Blair, coordinator of Youth Ministries, states “We have asked God to not only stir this generation, but to send a Joel 2:28 FLOOD of His Spirit for active service in His kingdom! These prayers are being answered; God has been pouring out His Spirit upon students across the nation since the Winterfest season began in January.”
Blair went on to say that there are many unsung heroes of Winterfest: the faithful local youth leaders, what he calls the heartbeat of Winterfest, and chaperones who give tirelessly to bring students to experience the presence of the Lord.
“I believe God has a special place in Heaven for these leaders, who lose sleep, take vacation time and even pay their own way to attend,” Blair continued. “Also, all of our corporate, church and ministry partners whose support is priceless. The International YCE Team and Smoky Mountain Steering Committee’s countless hours of labor in preparation, planning, promotion and facilitation is phenomenal as well. It takes each and every one charged with God’s presence and power to make Winterfest possible.”
“We believe hundreds and possibly thousands of students will be FLOODED with His presence, baptized in the Holy Spirit of Pentecost this weekend and ready to saturate their world for Christ!”
