Diverse Earthquakes Pump End-Time Discussions

A rash of earthquakes in diverse places has some believers looking for their redemption to draw
nigh while others are scoffing.

Before Tuesday afternoon’s 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Virginia, rattled across
Washington, D.C. and New York, and even shook parts of North Carolina, Colorado reported its
largest ever natural earthquake on Monday night.

Southern Colorado felt the impacts of a 5.3-magnitude, according to the National Earthquake
Information Center in Golden, Colo. Two smaller quakes hit the area earlier in the day.

In all, the U.S. Geological Service has reported dozens of earthquakes in 2011, ranging from
Japan to New Zealand to Chile and beyond. So how are Christians responding to the news that
the Big Apple was rocked and Wall Street traders didn’t want to stop buying and selling?

G. Craige Lewis, founder of EX Ministries—best known for exposing the demonic influence of
hip hop music—tweeted, “Biblical prophecy! Earthquake in NY n DC?? Gay marriage is causing
our land to hemorrhage. Have mercy lord.”

“Tweets and FB statuses will be flooded with predictions now that we just had an earthquake.
True prophets prophecy before things happens,” tweeted Bishop Brandon Smith from Atlanta.

“It feels like I’m still moving. You can tell you work in a Christian place when everyone starts
talking prophecy after an #earthquake,” Tweeted Sarah Fern of New Jersey.

Lee Grady, contributing editor at Charisma magazine, posted this on his Facebook page: “So
we have a hurricane headed to the East Coast, an earthquake hitting Virginia and the economy
quivering. Hold on to Jesus everybody!”
