For many years now, my wife Leola and I have answered the Great Commission to spread the good news of the gospel to Africa. We are acutely aware that every person must have the opportunity to be born into the family of God.
Wilson’s father was in the Colombian guerrilla. It was common to see him walk around the house with his ammunition belt girded across his chest. When there was gunfire in the neighborhood, his father was usually a part of it. Violence was so much a part of Wilson’s life, that at age 10 he, too, joined the guerrilla.
We recently conducted a water baptism on a beautiful beach. Seven people were baptized.
Recently, as we were returning from a church in Ohio, we were reminded that God is always watching over us. We had stopped in Bowling Green, KY, to get something to eat. As we were trying to make it back to I-65, we were repeatedly delayed.
As the Local Missions Representative (LMR) for Statesboro Church of God in Georgia, I have a heart for all nations and all people—including those in our own home town! However, God has designated a special place in my heart for the people of Ukraine.
