Chaplain Jerry Cox, Law Enforcement Chaplain, Director of the Tennessee Church of God Chaplains Association and Senior Pastor at the Powell Church of God, Powell, Tennessee, is the first Church of God chaplain to receive the prestigious “President’s Call to Service Award” from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

For many years, clothing has been taken to the General Assembly to be given to the wives of missionaries. Missionary Lorraine Alton and Sarah Moree, wife of former administrative assistant Chris Moree, first began taking clothes and giving them out of their hotel rooms. These ladies and others, such as Alma Kelley and Waneda Brownlow, would meet prior to the General Assembly and wash, iron and repair donated clothing.
Recently, Calvary Victory International Ministries of Cividino-Bergamo, Italy joined the International Church of God. National Overseer of Italy, Bishop Domenico Barra, Missionary Dennis Tanner, Bishop Edwin Amoah of Ebenezer Gospel Ministries in Rotterdam, Holland and Pastor Stephen Yaw from Amsterdam, Holland, were present at the ceremony.

In the 16th century some sectors of the Roman Catholic Church fell into the trap of selling “indulgences,” saying there would be relief in purgatory from the consequences of sins already forgiven. The Catholic Church became rich and powerful, but the people were financially and spiritually raped through this abuse.
A graduate program to assist nuns worldwide in integrating their spiritual formation with professional development in leadership and management has been developed by Duquesne University’s School of Leadership and Professional Advancement, in collaboration with the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Rome.
