General Assembly 2014 Will be Digitally Advanced

Category: Church of God News

When delegates assembled in North Carolina in 1906 at the first general assembly, little could those pioneers of faith imagine the technological advances the Church of God would make during the course of the next century. More than one hundred years later, a new generation of faithful are gathering once again—and this time, the meeting will be the most digitally-advanced and media-rich assembly in the denomination’s history.

As delegates enter the business and worship venue, it will be impossible to miss the set designed to maximize the digital technology and social media emphasis. An anchor desk will accommodate two commentators who will conduct interviews and report on the progress of the General Council business, as well as the worship services. The anchor teams will rotate throughout the week with a variety of personalities and will supplement the downtimes of the livestream broadcast.

A dedicated team of media experts will utilize multiple social media channels—including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube—as well as blog posts and live online streaming to share videos, news, and more. On-site attendees and those participating digitally via the Internet are invited to join the many online conversations including:

• Facebook: facebook.com/COGHQ
• Twitter: twitter.com/COGHQ
• Instagram: @cogHQ and #oneCOG
• YouTube:youtube.com/coghqvideos
• Livestream: ga14.org/watch

To join the conversation, use the hashtag #oneCOG and connect with people from all over the world.

The upped social media and anchor desk features are in addition to a completely revamped web presence at www.churchofgod.org. After clicking on the GA2014 graphic, browsers will discover more ways to connect to the General Assembly and receive the latest information. The new site is also “mobile-friendly,” making it easily navigable on tablets and mobile devices. The site can also be reached by visiting www.ga14.org.
