Family Research Council Calls on Georgia Governor to Withdraw Demand for Pastor’s Sermons and Documents

Family Research Council (FRC) today expressed outrage after the State of Georgia issued a legal demand that Dr. Eric Walsh, a lay pastor, hand over his sermons, sermon notes, and all pastoral documentation including his Bible. FRC launched a petition today at FRC.org/Walsh that calls on Governor Deal to “correct this egregious overreach of the state into church affairs.”

Atheists Try to Bring Down Movie IMDb Rating

Hundreds of atheists have left a one-star rating at the Internet Movie Database in an effort to discredit a new movie called, “The Atheists Delusion.” This, according to the film’s producer, Ray Comfort. Comfort said, “When I saw all the bad reviews, I encouraged Christians to watch the movie, then go to www.imdb.com/title/tt5910814/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt and rate it. Over 1,000 Christians have so far given the film a ten star rating—which means that they think it was ‘excellent,’ with 500 atheists giving it a one star (they think it was ‘awful’). This has lifted the average rating closer to a seven.”

The “Trump International Hotel,” Presidential Ballroom is to be the venue for the Inauguration Day event known to as the “Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast,’ on January 20, 2017. The event host, Rev. Merrie Turner stated that she chose the site because of it’s favorable proximity of the Old Postal Pavilion to both the White House and the U.S. Capitol along the famous parade route of Pennsylvania Avenue and because it is an American Landmark.

Mennonite Church USA and Church of God Begin Ecumenical Dialogue

Members of the Mennonite Church USA and the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) recently began a multi-year ecumenical dialogue. The first meeting took place Oct. 16-18 at Lee University. Through the presentation and discussion of papers during the annual meetings, the team members will pursue mutual understanding of each other’s history and theology, seek greater common witness to the gospel, and consider concrete ways that they can share their sense of togetherness in the one body of Christ with other members of their churches.
