An Arkansas church is dealing with a major outbreak of COVID-19 among its staff and congregation. First Assemblies of God Church in Greers Ferry has reported some 34 cases of the illness, which continues to spread rapidly across the United States.

I have been asked, “What will the Church of God International Offices do to stand with and assist the local church and its pastor as we move through the Covid-19 crisis?” Specifically, I have been asked if it is possible to temporarily discontinue the tithe of tithes paid by local churches, as directed by the General Assembly, to the State/Region and International Offices. These are very appropriate and understandable questions. People are concerned, apprehensive, and right now, many are simply afraid. Again, this is completely understandable.

CLEVELAND, TN: After this past Sunday, there is no doubt that the church has left the building. While some churches had canceled services the previous week, on March 22 most Church of God buildings across the country were dark, with the exception of the pastor preaching to empty pews, and to an iPhone or video camera. Although not voluntarily, there was no doubt that the church had left the building.
