The Monday morning session was held at the Church of God International Offices, with greetings from Bishop Mark Williams, assistant general overseer, representing General Overseer Raymond F. Culpepper. The afternoon session was hosted by the Church of God of Prophecy International Offices. Tours were conducted of the headquarters of both hosting organizations.

I arrived to Joint Base Balad, Iraq in March of 2008. My assignment was to be the hospital chaplain at the largest trauma center in the war zone. While this is the largest trauma center in theater, please keep in mind that it is still a relatively small facility. Our mission is not to keep severely wounded patients here, but to treat and stabilize them so they can be transported to Germany for longer term care.

For thousands of years, cultures across the world used verbal storytelling to recount their history, entertain people, and to bring together society for a common purpose. In medieval and early modern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, the bard represented one of a caste of poets and scholars well known for their tales. In medieval Europe the bard was known as a minstrel and performed songs about history and distant places, some real and some created.
