Justice David Souter is set to retire from the U.S. Supreme Court at the end of the session in June, according to news reports. This will be President Barack Obama’s first opportunity to make an appointment to the Supreme Court.

An important document representing months of research by several sub-committees was unanimously adopted April 30 by the International Executive Council in a meeting at the Church of God International Offices in Cleveland, Tenn.

The 20th annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon will begin at 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2009. For 90 continuous hours beginning with the reading of Genesis 1:1, every word of the Bible will be read aloud and without commentary, culminating at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, with the reading of the final chapters of Revelation. During those five days, hundreds of Bible believers will gather on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol to read a portion of the Bible, to listen and to pray.
