The National Prayer Committee, an organization of the Church of God, is inaugurating a new effort to encourage interdenominational, grassroots prayer movements, city-by-city. It is collaborative effort of the Mission America Coalition and the National Prayer Committee, led by Doug Small, along with Claude King (Southern Baptists), Kay Horner (Center for Spiritual Renewal), Randy Hekman (One Cry and Life Action Ministries), and John Maempa (Assemblies of God Prayer Leader).

On October 20, 2014, Nyack College, in partnership with the Center for the Study of Ancient Judaism and Christian Origins, will host a gathering of scholars and dignitaries from 4:00–7:30 pm at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Manhattan, focused on discoveries from the excavations at Magdala.
