A regional appeals committee of the United Methodist Church has reinstated the clergy credentials of a former pastor who was recently defrocked for performing a same-sex union ceremony. Frank Schaefer refused to henceforward respect the church’s policies forbidding such ceremonies. The Ohio Christian Alliance would like to commend the bill’s sponsors, Senator Rob Portman (OH) and Senator Mary Landrieu (LA), and Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio’s 6th District, who was the House sponsor for their support of this historic legislation that will add FDR’s D-Day Landing prayer to the WWII memorial in Washington D.C.
