Cleveland, Tenn.–Thousands of churches across all six inhabited continents declared God’s power from their pulpits on Pentecost weekend and joined Empowered21 in issuing a fresh call to new generations encouraging them to embrace the Holy Spirit and experience the power needed for 21st century evangelism.
The Mt. Carmel Church of God in Foxworth, Mississippi technically began in the 1920’s when five people from Cheraw got together and began to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to the area in Pickwick. It was officially organized as a Church of God in 1949 by Reverend Paris L. McLain with 22 chartered members.
A recent survey conducted by both MSNBC and Fox News suggests that many Americans are leaving the nation’s big cities in search of cheaper homes and open spaces farther out. Where are they going? Believe it or not, they are moving to the country. Many are returning to small towns where they grew up.
