The Importance of Television Ministry

My wife and I recently went to a Middle Eastern country to spend a week. We visited some churches and met with leaders who work among the people there. They encouraged me by their response to the Christian TV programs we are producing in their native languages. Everywhere we go, we are encouraged by viewers that we meet.

House Church Leaders Conference

From there we traveled to another Middle Eastern country to host our annual house church leader’s conference. Thirty-five people joined us. It was an amazing time for teaching, worship, prayer and even washing each others’ feet. We spent one week together and then continued on to Northern Africa.

Our journey to Northern Africa was to pursue several important goals including spending time encouraging the house church leaders there.

We had two meetings with house church leaders, training them how to use the “Follow Me” program, which has 37 discipleship lessons in 37 episodes and studies. We also trained them how to start new house churches in their cities. Around 1,000 people in Northern Africa are using this program. We also had a four-day conference for further leadership training that was attended by 21 leaders. Several of these leaders oversee numerous house church leaders in their region.

Satellite TV Ministry and Local Ministry

For the new Christian TV program, “What’s Happening?” we wanted to shoot outdoors. To do this, we needed government permission to use the Media Production City. God gave us favor with the non-Christian director who told us that we were the first Christian program to use this facility. He provided security officers and he himself watched all the recordings. We are very thankful for the creative TV director that God sent to us to put together this new program. Our main shoots were in an outdoor studio that looks like a 1930s street.

Many “extras” were in the street to make it lifelike. Almost 100 people were involved in the street scenes. Each 30 minute episode will feature a 10 minute drama and street and studio interviews which raise a discipleship question. This is followed by my interview with a counsellor and Bible teacher.

The format and content come together in a way that says the truth of the Gospel is real. We were able to completed the interviews for 26 programs and now we are working on the drama and the other interviews. Praise God that we are able to reach an otherwise unreachable nation with the love of Christ through this media outlet.

Names and places are removed for safety purposes.

Due to restricted freedoms in certain areas of the world, a television ministry is vital! Those who could never hear the Word of God are now experiencing His presence through television ministries, produced in their native languages. We are seeing many come to Christ through this ministry.
