Church of God Chaplaincy Marks Milestone

By Chaplain (Colonel) Bershon, USAF, Ret.

This summer, July 2008, the Church of God chaplaincy celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was in July 1958 that Edward E. Shoupe reported to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to become the first Church of God chaplain to serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Fulfilling Her Purpose

In the children’s book “God Has a Purpose for Me”, young Aya hears a sermon at church about fulfilling God’s purpose in her life. She decides to begin right away by doing things she thinks will make the Lord happy. Exhausted and confused by her efforts, she turns to her family and learns what fulfilling God’s purpose in one’s life really means.
