As a Beatle, Paul McCartney wrote and sang “When I’m 64.” It appeared on what many believe is one of the greatest and most creative albums of all time, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Today Sir Paul is 71 years of age. Don’t wince, but rather identify with one of the closing lines from his song: “You’ll be older too!”

With a few pastors falling and many churches dwindling or closing, many Christians are concerned about the state of the church. If you add to that “flaky” charismatics, doctrinal error, compromise and lax moral standards, it’s easy for someone like me, who observes trends in the church up close, to become cynical.
The City Council of San Antonio, led by Councilman Diego Bernal and supported by Mayor Julian Castro, is planning to enact discriminatory regulations that would lay the foundation for litigation against any person or business with Biblical values. For the first time in the history of this historic, family-oriented city, “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” would be added to the discrimination code in the city.
Christian educators are getting fed up with some recent laws that have been passed, and the head of Christian Educators Association International says a passive church has permitted non-Christians to make those decisions.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is providing guidance to churches on the legal ramifications of the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) change to its long-standing membership policy. In May, the BSA executive committee changed the policy so that it now allows Scouts to be of any “sexual orientation or preference.” Many churches sponsor Boy Scout troops.
