Since the United States’ founding, American civil and military leadership have taken deliberate steps to meet the religious needs of the military and to prevent it from becoming a purely secular entity. The founders were no strangers to government provision of religious support to the military.
I’ve had to report on the deaths of many great men of God over the years—and each of their lives and deaths impacted me. When I got the call that Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth, were killed in a private plane crash on their way back to Grand Bahama on Sunday night, it was as difficult to believe as when David Wilkerson was killed in a car accident on April 27, 2011.
I desire to reach people of every persuasion…liberal and conservative, Democrat and Republican, churched and unchurched…with the message of God’s love extended to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. I avoid speaking out on political issues because God’s love extends to people of every political persuasion. But there are times when a political issue is also a moral and spiritual issue. And I am compelled to take a stand.
The pro-life amendment to the state constitution, called a “modest” proposal by some observers, would allow the Tennessee State Legislature to consider laws regulating abortion within the state—legislative action currently barred by a decision of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
In case you didn’t know it, if you are a conservative Christian, you are just like Boko Haram and ISIS. At least, that’s what the secularists are saying. More absurd still, they actually believe this.
