SMCH Presents Eagle Award
Sevierville, TN– For more than twenty years, the Church of God’s Smoky Mountain Children’s Home has been presenting its prestigious Eagle Award annually to deserving recipients. The award is presented in recognition and appreciation for outstanding services rendered to their children and youth.
This year’s award was a highlight at the annual Christmas banquet of the SMCH where, not one but two couples were presented with this special award: Ron and Betty Ogle of Sevierville and Roy and Barbara Miller of Holmesville, Ohio.
The Ogles and Millers
Ron and Betty Ogle are no strangers to the Sevier County community, having been actively involved in many civic clubs, community events, and charity sponsorships. As native Sevier County residents, they continue to be involved in many benevolent efforts, helping the less fortunate while assisting the community as a whole.
“Their contributions to Smoky Mountain Children’s Home have been astounding throughout the years,” stated Coleman Peacock, director of communications at SMCH. “Betty serves as a member of the SMCH Board of Directors, while Ron gives of his time, energy and resources to the work of The Home. Their impact has been seen in the transformations of the Magnolia Auditorium, the gymnasium project, the Moffett Dining Hall renovation, and most recently, an updated Memories Room. To call them friends of SMCH is no understatement, because their benevolent contributions continually bless the children in our care.”
Roy and Barbara Miller have been actively involved with Smoky Mountain Children’s Home for about twenty-two years, contributing to the staff and residents with individual and
corporate gifts, sponsorships, benefits, and personally providing for the needs of children.
“They add a personal touch to the lives of every resident by providing such things as
monogramed pillow cases with each child’s name and personal gift cards for each one,” Peacock explained. “Their giving has further enhanced SMCH through the purchase of three new campus signs, a new roof for the gymnasium, new lights for the dining hall, and new computers for the entire campus. Their benevolent contributions cause them to stand out from the crowd, with hearts that care for the things of God…orphans and widows.”
Dr. Walt Mauldin, executive director of SMCH said, “Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is honored to present its most prestigious award to the Ron and Betty Ogle and Roy and Barbara Miller, for their benevolent contributions to our community’s most important natural resource…our children.”
