‘Go West’ Conference Scheduled for April 16-18

Ten Church of God state and regional offices are joining together for a multi-state conference entitled, “Go West,” on April 16-18, 2015 at Free Chapel Church of God, located in Irvine, California.

The purpose of the conference is to, “intentionally celebrate the fruitful ministries of approximately 850 local Church of God congregations in the far western U.S.A.” All breakout sessions will be led by successful pastors from the western part of the country, and plenary speakers have ministry roots in the Western U.S.A. Highlighting the plenary speakers is Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams, who, prior to being elected to the Executive Committee in 2008, was administrative bishop for California-Nevada. Other plenary speakers include Dr. Erwin McManus, pastor of Mosaic Church in Los Angeles, Dr. R. Lamar Vest, former General Overseer and current president of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, and Tony Stewart, pastor of CityLife Church in Tampa, Fla.

“These words (‘Go West’), from newspaperman Horace Greeley fanned the flame of western expansion across the United States in the 19th Century,” stated Charles Fischer, Church of God administrative bishop for California/Nevada. “One hundred years ago a similar spirit began to grip the hearts of Church of God members and ministers to take the full gospel message to the western USA. Well into the 21st Century, we desire to rekindle a passion to see a fresh move of God in the West and provide the impetus for a new wave of church health and growth.”

Participating Church of God state/regions of the Go West conference include Northwest Hispanic, Southwest Hispanic, Pacific Northwest, Alaska/British Columbia, North central, Rocky Mountain, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

The schedule will include nearly a dozen workshops, which will be conducted over the course of the three day event. There will be five workshops focused on church planting and others geared toward women’s ministries, pastor’s wives, the next generation, and church growth.
