Shaped to Serve is the theme for the annual Christian Education Workers Appreciation Sunday, suggested by the International Department of Youth and Christian Education for January 25, 2009.
“Each year, the department provides a complimentary program with suggestions for local church leaders to show appreciation to the volunteers who give so much in service to their church,” stated Tony Lane of the Church of God Youth and Christian Education department. “The volunteers in our churches provide the workforce for the various ministries and programs. Their efforts often go unrewarded. This one day each year has been set aside to give them recognition.”
By providing a free program of ideas, written by a Church of God ministry leader, Lane said the department hopes that local churches will take advantage of this opportunity to share expressions of gratitude. Tools for showing appreciation are also available. These resources coordinate with the program theme.
The program and resources can be found by going to the Youth and Christian Education website, www.ycechurchofgod.com and then by clicking on the icon Shaped to Serve. Or, call 423-478-7229. The annual Teacher of the Year winner will also be announced on January 25.
