Church in Scotland Aids Joplin Victims

After reading about the tornado victims in Joplin, Missouri, and after seeing the video of the damage to the area on the British Broadcasting (BBC) television stations, a couple named Brian and Jo of the Elgin Church of God in Elgin, Scotland, approached their pastor and asked how they could make a contribution to help the people in Joplin. Their pastor, Bishop Dennis Tanner, suggested that the opportunity be given to the congregation to assist, and asked Brian to make the appeal the following Sunday.

One of the members who responded was Isobel, a very talented lady suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and her hobby is crafting greeting cards. She requested time to make cards and sell them to raise more money to help the people in Joplin. Two weeks after Brian and Jo made the initial appeal, Isobel sold over $125 worth of her handcrafted greeting cards! The total amount given by the Elgin Church of God is $675.

The national office of the Church of God in Scotland has promised to match the amount given by the Elgin church, bringing the total amount sent from Scotland to $1,350 to help the victims of the Joplin, MO, tornado.
