A new link on the Church of God Web site offers ideas and resources for Pentecost Sunday, coming up on June 12, 2011.
Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, and Holy Spirit baptism are often misunderstood, even among mainline Pentecostals. Pentecost Sunday offers a unique opportunity for pastors and church leaders to offer “teachable moments” about Pentecost, including such questions as “What is the Holy Spirit?” “How do I receive the Holy Spirit?” and “How does the Holy Spirit relate to the Holy Trinity?”
The Web link offers ideas for events and classroom gatherings for the local church. There is also a download of a powerpoint presentation that can be utilized in classroom or church settings.
Coinciding with Pentecost Sunday is the release of a new book by Church of God General Overseer Raymond Culpepper, Understanding the Holy Spirit. Pathway Press in Cleveland, Tennessee, recently announced the release of the volume which addresses some of the most basic and fundamental questions about the Holy Spirit.
