Pentecostal Theological Seminary Announces Minister’s Week

Holy Witness: We’re On A Mission From God is the theme of Ministers’ Week this year at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary March 15-17.

A highlight of the week will be a presentation by Lee Grady as to where the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements are and where they are headed in their missional efforts. Grady is contributing editor for Charisma; he was the magazine’s editor for 11 years. His reporting and writing has won multiple awards, and he recently authored The Holy Spirit Is Not For Sale: Rekindling the Power of God in an Age of Compromise.

Ken Davis, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, shares “We were very pleased to be able to secure Lee Grady to spend time with us. He has a very busy schedule and for good reason. His writing and observations about the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements are always provocative; there are few people I would rather read when it comes to taking an honest look at ourselves.”

A presenter at Ministers’ Week will be Matt Roberts. Matt Roberts is a pastor of The Genesis Project, a Church of God in Ogden, Utah. In the last 5 years, he and his wife have planted a church that has grown to more than 1,000 in attendance.

Joining Pastor Roberts in a session of dialogue will be Dr. Harold Bare. Bare has been the pastor of Covenant Church, a Church of God in Charlottesville, Virginia, since 1981. Dr. Bare is a former social worker/counselor and college lecturer. He has authored several books, including A Month of Sundays, They Call Me Pentecostal, and Hell is War. Pastor Bare completed his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, and leads a church that has been successfully involved many years in missions globally.

Roberts will present on Cultivating and Developing Gifts of Evangelism in the Local Church, and will dialogue with Pastor Bare on Leading Congregations to Participate in the Global Mission of the Church.

Dr. Steve Land, president of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, points out, “It will be exciting to hear these two successful pastors from different generations and different cultural settings dialogue on how they have directed their churches in their successful approaches to evangelism.”

Faculty members Dr. Chris Thomas, Dr. Cheryl Bridges Johns, Dr. Lee Roy Martin, Dr. Sang-Ehil Han, and Dr. Oliver McMahan will present on the following topics with a session of dialogue with the audience after each presentation:

• Leading a lifestyle of personal witness in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ
• Faithful witness in light of the end: The Testimony of the Apocalypse
• Developing a lifestyle of social holiness
• Leading Congregations to Participate in the Global Mission of the Church

An exciting dynamic of Ministers’ Week is the inclusion of Seminary Alumni in the event.
