Children’s ministry in the Church of God is stronger than ever! From Nickoloedean style of environments to varying models of Sunday school, churches understand the necessity of reaching and teaching children the fundamentals of our Pentecostal faith. To assist the local church in their children’s ministry, Youth and Discipleship has some exciting plans for the coming months. To recognize children’s workers who have served long term in children’s ministry, a Shepherd’s Cup award is presented annually at the FOCUS Children’s Ministry Conference, convening in Greenville, South Carolina on March 3-5. The award had been presented to an elite group of deserving children’s ministry leaders. The 2010 Shepherd’s Cup award winners were Chris Quinn and Debbie Wright.
The Shepherd’s Cup is awarded annually to individuals who have been involved in ministry to children for at least 10 years and have made this area of ministry a priority and lifetime commitment and whose ministry has set high standards for others to follow. The nominee must be presently ministering to children within the Church of God and this application MUST be endorsed by his/her Senior Pastor. The nomination may also be made or endorsed by a State Youth and CE Director. The nominee should be planning to attend the FOCUS, where the award will be presented. The nomination form can be found on the www.youthanddisicpleship.org [1] website and must be received in the YCE department by January 28, 2011.
