General Assembly Council Sessions Addressed

Church of God General Overseer Dr. Raymond Culpepper has posted a special message to the ordained bishops [1] who will be part of the upcoming General Council in Orlando, Florida.

Culpepper addresses the agenda which was mailed last month to the ordained bishops. Packets with other items are being mailed from the international offices this week to all pre-registered delegates. Within the packets are 1) an agenda of the General Council, 2) Report of the Pastoral Review Committee, 3)Report of the Bylaws and Structure/USA National Assembly Committee, 4) Proposed Changes Necessary in the Minutes to Reflect the Restructure Proposal and 5) a Report of the International Executive Committee adopted by the International Executive Council and 6) delegate name badges.

In the video message posted on the Church of God Web site, Culpepper announces there were 15 items referred to an agenda committee which were addressed during this last Assembly period. There were an additional 57 motions that were sent and since September of 2009 the executive committee and executive council have worked diligently to bring the documents which will be formally presented at the General Assembly beginning on July 27 at the Orange County Convention Center.

Included with the agenda are explanatory notes of each item and the mission and vision of the Church of God, which will be the first item on the agenda. The entire agenda can be perused on the Church of God Web site by clicking on the GA2010 graphic.

Culpepper mentions that the General Council schedule has been increased by two hours to be sure there is enough time to cover the items on the agenda. In addition, each voting member of the Council will have an individual electronic keypad which will further increase the time for discussion and deliberation. In the past the keypads have been shared by two or more members.

Culpepper concludes his remarks by saying, “It is my prayer that God will direct our discussions and decisions…I look forward to seeing you in Orlando.”
