A group of nine church leaders recently met at the international offices as the Church Planting Task Force, a body which meets for the purpose of “coordinating our efforts in denominational church planting to plan, promote, and implement our church planting strategies.”
Serving on the task force are the following: First Assistant General Overseer Tim Hill, chairman and executive committee liaison; Jimmy D. Smith, director of evangelism and home missions; Larry J. Timmerman, assistant director of evangelism and home missions; Michael Knight, church planter and senior pastor of Covenant Community Church in Louisville, Ky.; Fidencio Burgueno, director of Hispanic Ministries; Jimmy Campbell; director of Black Ministries; Bill Claypoole, church planter, evangelism and home missions; Tommy Madden, director, youth and Christian education; and Orville Hagan, America Ablaze consultant.
The specific objectives of this task force include, developing a coordinated strategy to recruit, train and fund church planters; working together to facilitate the implementation of the America Ablaze initiative; assisting the Hispanic leadership in fulfilling their goal of planting 1,000 churches in the next 10 years by networking Angio pastors with Hispanic pastors and sharing facilities and seeking the cooperation of other church departments to provide material resources for new church plants.
