From May 30, the Sunday following Pentecost onward, Church of God congregations are asked to pray for the denomination and it ministries around the world, and for the coming General Assembly. Each Sunday, a special emphasis for prayer will be highlighted. The themes for the 8-week prayer focus include prayer for God’s Providential Intervention, Purity of Heart, Direction, Provision, a Pervasive Missional Spirit, God’s Presence, Power and Protection.

Then, on Sunday evening, July 25, General Overseer Raymond Culpepper is asking that congregations and pastors hold a special prayer meeting for the church around the world. Watch for support materials to come.

The Church of God and the Center for Spiritual Renewal have teamed up to call the nation to prayer in September. Last year, almost 800 rallies were held on courthouse steps as people from diverse denominations prayed for the nation. This year, P. Douglas Small is coordinating the national interdenominational event. Expectations this year are for at least 2,000 of the nation’s 3,100 counties to participate. In the weeks leading to the September prayer effort, resource materials will follow the 20 Indicators of Revival with prayer points for each day. From September 5 – 12, churches across the nation will observe 8 Days of Consecration. And then on Saturday, September 11, prayer walks will take place in hundreds of cities across the nation – simultaneously and Christians will gather for noon rallies to ask God to heal our land. Small says efforts are now focused on confirming leaders in counties across the nation. Prayer leaders and pastors are urged to contact Bishop Small or visit www.AwakeningAmerica.us and volunteer to lead the effort in their county.
