Preparations are continuing for the Symposium on the Great Commission, a dual coast event which will highlight the urgency of reaching the lost for Christ in today’s world.
The Symposium will be convening in the east, September 14 & 15, at the Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia, and in the west, September 17 & 18, 2009, at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, California.
The Great Commission is the second of three initiatives that was proposed by General Overseer Raymond Culpepper at the 2008 General Assembly. The three initiatives are Prayer, the Great Commission, and the Quest for Trust. The prayer initiative, which was begun earlier this year, has received reports from around the world of how God is moving and people are being blessed.
“The Symposiums will be a time to celebrate what God is doing in the Church of God around the world,” stated Scot Carter, director of communications for the Church of God. “Together we will share the vision for the future, and set the course for our emphasis on the Great Commission. We will be hearing from our General Overseer Raymond Culpepper, pastor Niko from Indonesia, Anna Diaz from Honduras, and Loran Livingston from Charlotte, N.C.”
“Reinhard Bonnke was scheduled to be with us, however he has injured his knee and will require surgery,” Carter reported. “Reverend Bonnke has been forced to cancel all of his appointments due to the surgery and the rehabilitation for the next couple of months. Please keep Reverend Bonnke in your prayers.”
At the symposium, the Great Commission Powerkit will be introduced, which will help train and equip laity, pastors, and leaders to fulfill the Great Commission. The Church of God Executive Committee is encouraging everyone to register for this conference if you have not already done so. The cost is $25.00 per person or $40.00 per couple.
