Christians around the world are being urged to spend portions of their day this Sunday, July 27, fasting and praying for one of the worst human rights-violating and Christian-persecuting countries in the world.
The Worldwide Day of Fasting and Prayer for North Korea is an initiative of the Global Justice Prayer Network. The prayer group connects their efforts to 2 Chronicles 7:14—a Scripture in which God promises to forgive sin and heal a land if the righteous humble themselves, pray and repent.
The group says that in addition to fasting and repentance, informed intercession for the following issues is vital: freedom for hundreds of thousands imprisoned in cruelly run concentration camps; restoration of basic human rights, especially of the defenseless and vulnerable; provision for the starving and the orphaned; divine protection for refugees and human rights workers; the destiny of North Korea’s persecuted church; peaceful unification of North and South Korea; and revival and transformation in society.
