The Church of God’s Men and Women of Action have two projects this summer in Alaska. According to MWOA officials, they are still in the planning stages, but wanted to get the information out to inform the public of this ministry opportunity. The project locations are Anchorage and Wasilla.
The Wasilla project will only need a small team and would probably be the first project. It would last about seven or eight days and the team would drive around 60 miles round-trip from the lodging location to the worksite each day. Wasilla is an ongoing project that MWOA has been working on for the last two years.
The North Anchorage project is a new and very large project. The project would mostly be framing, would need a team of 10 to 20 and it would be a 2-week task. Director of MWOA Hugh Carver stated, “this would be a good project for couples since it is located in the capital city of Alaska.” Depending on the size of the team, the church has two fully equipped apartments that the team members can stay in. The team would need to make their own meals.
Cost: Airfare cost plus $500 for food, transportation, etc.
The project leader for both projects is Marvin Spurgin. Marvin has led teams to Alaska for more than 10 years. He is very qualified and experienced with the Alaska area. The MWOA office will assist Marvin in the travel arrangements for the teams but Marvin will handle the onsite project needs, accommodation and transportation.
For more information, contact Spurgin at 423-718-5255 (cell) or the MWOA office at 423-478-7955.
