General Overseer, Dr. Raymond Culpepper has announced the appointment of P. Douglas Small as International Liaison of Prayer Ministries. For almost two decades, Doug has been engaged as a National Teaching Evangelist. Six years ago, his portfolio was switched to Consultant on Prayer Ministries under the supervision of the general evangelism department. He has also served as member of the general church Prayer Commission and as coordinator of prayer activities at the General Assembly.
The recent appointment to the role of Prayer Ministries Liaison moves the new office of prayer from Evangelism-Home Missions and places the prayer emphasis directly under the office of General Overseer Raymond Culpepper to underscore the importance of the continuing prayer effort.
Dr. Culpepper noted, “The response to the prayer effort is overwhelming. It is having a positive impact on thousands of congregations. Others are just now discovering the resource created by Doug, ‘Prayer – the Heartbeat of the Church!’ We want to translate the event into a movement of prayer throughout the church.”
The move does not impact the church economically because it is not a new position, but a reassignment of Doug’s duties from being a national evangelist to concentrating on leading the church in prayer. This assignment is designed to more strategically transform the prayer study event into a movement of prayer. Doug Small will continue to work from his Kannapolis, NC office. He will be available to church leaders and state prayer teams as well as pastors and local church prayer leaders as a consultant. He will continue to offer Schools of Prayer, Prayer Summits and resource the Great Days of Prayer.
