URUGUAY — Each year we have many testimonies of how God gives freedom to the students who have been in bondage. One evening we had a service where the Lord really moved in our students’ lives.
The first two to three weeks, when a child first comes to La Mission in Uruguay, is called Detox. Just like a person on drugs needs to get all the toxins out of his body before he can lead a normal life, we take our students through a type of Detox too. It’s not to detox from
drugs or alcohol, it is a detox from the toxins the world has given them – everything from bitterness against people who have hurt them; to lies the devil has told them through other people; to bad or wrong relationships they have had with the opposite sex. We give them opportunities to forgive the people who have hurt them; hear the truth about who they are in Christ and to be released from guilt that they have carried around.
Each year we have lots of testimonies of how God gives freedom to the students who have been in bondage and this year is no exception. One evening we had a service where the Lord really moved in our students’ lives. One of our students told us that sometimes she feels that people do not love her and that God does not love her either. That night God spoke to her in a very unique way – in a vision. She said that as she was praying, she felt a bright light on her and God told her that He loved her. Then she could see a long red carpet with ropes on both sides of the red carpet. She said she could see angels on both sides of the red carpet saying, “Keep on going! Don’t give up!” She said she was overjoyed and she was dancing for God. She shared this testimony and afterward she was laughing and very happy.
Also during Detox the boys had a special time together. Guys are different from girls and they have different things they struggle with. Many times guys struggle with lust and other fleshly sins. One morning during a group prayer time, we separated the guys from the girls so they could be more open. The girls finished in less than an hour but the guys took about two hours. Afterward they all testified that the Lord had freed them from a lot of things and they all made comments about how the Lord had moved in their midst.
Praise the Lord! We had lots of nice things that happened during Detox and we are very thankful to Him.
