Sevierville, TN–The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) has received official notification of its renewal of accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA) of New York, securing its accreditation through 2029.
COA President and CEO Jody Levison-Johnson stated, “This is a tremendous achievement that demonstrates that your organization has successfully implemented high-performance standards and, as such, is delivering high-quality services.”
SMCH Executive Director Dr. Walt Mauldin emphasized the dedication behind this accomplishment: “Many of our staff work tirelessly to receive this accreditation. It literally takes a minimum of two years to complete and involves a wall-to-wall self-study, thousands of pages of documentation, and an intensive site visit from a COA team. However, the person who led the way for us is SMCH’s fifty-year veteran, Linda Loyd, who serves as our Accreditation Director. Her dedication and consistency continue to guide us through these important processes.”
Mauldin concluded, “SMCH first applied for accreditation in 2008 and was officially accredited in 2009. Since then, the organization has successfully completed comprehensive accreditation efforts every four years. This latest achievement is a significant milestone and a meaningful win for the entire SMCH community.”
