Todd Starnes, a FOX News radio personality who is a Lee alumnus, has signed a contract with the Church of God’s Pathway Press to tell his amazing recovery from near death obesity.
Starnes is heard daily on 750 radio stations around the nation. But his listeners are unaware that the man behind the voice once weighed over 300 pounds before open heart surgery forced him to reorder his priorities and refocus his life. Starnes shed 150 pounds and then ran the New York Marathon.
They Popped My Hood and Found Gravy on the Dipstick will be officially released on Tuesday, March 3, in a special book release party at the headquarters of the American Bible Society in New York City. It is an often-humorous, always-inspiring series of tales about life. Former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, in writing the foreword says, “Todd’s stories will make you laugh, touch your heart, and encourage you to take steps toward living a better life.”
Starnes, who is a former editor of the Lee University student newspaper, is a network reporter and anchor for Fox News Radio. His work is heard around the nation and he also writes a daily blog and hosts the “Fox on Faith” religion podcast. He’s covered a number of high-profile stories, most recently the 2008 presidential race where he was the embed reporter on Barack Obama’s campaign.
In the inspiring book, Todd splashes heavy doses of Southern humor, which has taken Pathway Press onto the national publishing scene. Starnes is scheduled to appear on several nationally televised radio and television programs where he will promote the book. The 208-page paperback sells for $14.99 can be ordered from Pathway Press or online at www.pathwaybookstore.com.
