New Podcast Examines, Celebrates Tony Evans’ Four Decades of Ministry

As news of leaders sidelined by scandal or burnout is widespread, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) is telling the story of a man who has clung to his faith through a myriad of challenges in “Start to Finish,” a new podcast launching today. Offering encouragement to pastors and listeners, it focuses solely on Tony Evans, the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas for more than 40 years. Episodes are posted weekly on Thursdays and can be found at and every major streaming platform.

“In a time with so many examples of institutional and leadership failure, it’s important to honor those who are finishing strong,” said Trevin Wax, NAMB’s vice president of research and resource development. “Dr. Tony Evans has had an incalculable impact on the evangelical world, and there is much wisdom, insight and inspiration we can receive from the ministry impact God has accomplished through him.”

In “Start to Finish,” listeners will hear directly from Evans and those who know him best, including coach Tony Dungy, gospel artist Kirk Franklin and Evans’ daughter Priscilla Shirer, an author and Bible teacher. The podcast tells the story of Evans’ beginnings in Baltimore during the Civil Rights Movement and how God developed his vision for ministry—what he calls “the Kingdom Agenda”—before he became a household name.

“I am so humbled and honored about this podcast that kind of unveils my life, history, ministry, family, worldview and perspective,” Evans said. “It’s a privilege to be able to share with others who I am, where God has brought me from and hopefully where He is taking me to in whatever time He gives me in life and ministry.”

In addition to leading Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, which has around 10,000 members, Evans has a daily radio broadcast on more than 2,000 radio outlets around the world. He has written more than 30 books and published the first full-Bible commentary and study ever produced by an African American.
