Students Spark Prayer Event at Lee University

Cleveland, TN—Students at Lee University are leading spontaneous prayer taking place at The Chapel on the Lee campus.

A statement released by Lee President Dr. Mark Walker said, “A student-led prayer vigil began on Monday, February 13 around 10:30am, as the result of the desire of a School of Theology & Ministry class to pray and seek God. We do not know if this is a revival; we just know that God is doing something special on our campus through these times of student led prayer. The institution is committed to supporting our students as they seek God.”

The prayer, which has gone non-stop for three days, is similar to the events happening on the campus of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Lee University Campus Pastor Rob Fultz was contacted by CBN News on Tuesday and participated in a live interview.

“Students were in a theology class at Lee on Monday morning discussing the Asbury revival and one of the students asked the question, ‘Why not here? Why not now?’” Fultz, who has been campus pastor for five years, stated. “This generation, with the weight they are carrying, is demanding something authentic and real and it’s that hunger for a true encounter with a divine God that’s driving their hearts and their passion to keep pursuing Him.”

Fultz stated that a number students from other campuses have traveled to Lee to participate and the vigil has continued to be student-led.

Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill expressed his sentiment for what is happening at Lee by offering thanksgiving for, “all who are pressing into the presence of the Lord.”
