Lee Homecoming 2022 Is This Weekend

Cleveland, TN–Lee University’s 2022 Homecoming celebration will begin this Friday, Nov. 4, and continue through Saturday, Nov. 5. Hundreds of alumni and family will gather once again for one of Lee’s most anticipated traditions, filled with events both familiar and new.

“It’s a weekend full of great activities for all ages,” said Dr. Brad Moffett, vice president for University Relations. “We encourage all our alumni to bring their kids with them for this weekend.”

The 1918 Society will host its first annual golf tournament at the Cleveland Country Club. Range and registration will open at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will be a four-person scramble with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Participants chose their own team to compete with, and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 13th place, along with closest to the pin and long putt contest winners. All proceeds will go toward Lee’s Alumni Fund.

This year, Lee will present a new event, “Traditions of Lee: 60 Years of Music & Campus Life,” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, honoring traditions that have stood the test of time and recognize new ones that have quickly become part of Lee’s DNA. Features will include performances by Voices of Lee, Ladies of Lee, Lee Singers, Jazz Band, along with appearances with former and current Parade of Favorites contestants, celebrating its 60th anniversary, and Greek Life representatives.

Also celebrating its 60th anniversary, Upsilon Xi will host Sadie Hawkins, Lee’s oldest event, at 8 p.m. on Friday, and on Saturday, there will be a breakfast and dinner for Upsilon Xi alumni. Lee’s improv club, Shenanigans, celebrate its 15th anniversary with shows on Friday at 10 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m. in the Dixon Center.

Lee Athletics will host the Flames Alumni Brunch for all former athletes on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. The event will showcase the new complex, which opened in the spring of 2021. In addition, former athletes will be able to reconnect with teammates, coaches, and administration, enjoy breakfast and coffee, and hear about the continued championship tradition of the Flames.

After the brunch, the Homecoming Parade will take place at 11:15 a.m. on the Pedestrian Mall. Both women’s and men’s basketball teams will play directly following the parade, at 12 and 2 p.m., respectively. During halftime of the men’s game, this year’s Homecoming court will be presented, and Homecoming Queen will be announced.

Current Lee students will showcase their clubs and organizations through their student booths at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Booths from nearly every organization at Lee will be set up on the Pedestrian Mall for alumni to visit and meet current members of their former clubs. The Flame Fair, Homecoming’s alumni market, will also be open during this time.

Other Homecoming events include Lee Theatre’s production of Sophocles’ “Antigone” at 7:30 on both Friday and Saturday night in the Buzz Oats Blackbox Theater, located in the Communication Arts Building; Volley for a Cure at 7 p.m. on Friday in Paul Dana Walker Arena; and various club and department breakfasts at 8:30 Saturday morning.
