Lee Online Awards Distinguished Alumnus, Announces Associates Degree

Cleveland, TN—In the past week, the online program of Lee University, – Lee Online – announced the start of a new associates degree and announced their annual Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Christopher J. Combs, Esq. was awarded the 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award by Lee Online Executive Director Dr. Joshua Black, during Lee University’s Homecoming weekend, November 5-6.Combs is an ordained bishop with the Church of God and serves as lead pastor of Orchard Terrace Church of God in Cold Springs, Ky.

“As a full-time pastor, Christopher selected the Lee University Online program to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Ministry Leadership back in 2014,” said Catherine Yaun, Director of Online Academic Services.  He then returned to complete the master’s in Ministry Studies in 2017.”

Combs followed up his Lee online degrees pursuing a law degree from the Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, graduating with honors in 2020 with his Juris Doctorate and MBA. He has been a member of the Kentucky Bar Association since 2020.

Currently Combs is a trial attorney for the Department of Public Advocacy in Campbell County, Kentucky, and serves on the Campbell County Juvenile Fair Team, a group of attorneys and professionals established by statute to offer alternatives to judicial action for troubled teens, keeping them out of the court system.

Bishop Combs hopes his story, “inspires someone else to find ministry and follow their calling wherever it leads them.” He asserts that the Lee program set him up for success as an attorney by helping him use Scripture as the foundation for his service to the judicial community and to clients he works with on a daily basis.

In other news, earlier this week, Lee online announced the launch of a new degree program, a two-year Associate of Science in General Studies.
