Seminar Set on Church and Migration Crisis

The Church of God Migration Crisis Initiative will be offering an online training seminar this summer on The Church and the Migration Crisis. This seminar is designed to equip pastors and church leaders with the biblical, theological, historical, legal, pastoral, and ministerial foundations to positively and proactively respond to the migration crisis facing immigrant communities. The seminar is open to pastors, ministers, and church leaders in the Church of God, as well as other Christian leaders who are interested in learning more about the subject.

The seminar will be divided into two four-hour zoom sessions and will take place on June 11-12, 2021 from 6:00-10:00 pm EST or 3:00-7:00 pm PST. The course will be offered in English and Spanish, and lectures, group discussions, and in-course activities will be utilized to lead this conversation for the purpose of gaining wisdom, insight, and new understanding as to how the Church can respond to the migration crisis. This seminar will also be offered in an extended course format for students of the Center for Latino Studies at Pentecostal Theological Seminary who are interested in taking the course for credit.

The Church of God Migration Crisis Initiative was established in December 2019 for the purpose of equipping pastors and church leaders with the biblical, legal, pastoral, and ministerial preparation to respond to the current crisis facing our immigrant communities. The Migration Crisis Initiative is housed under the Church of God Hispanic Ministries Office and seeks to serve pastors and leaders across the denomination to respond to the migration crisis in a constructive and practical way. All participants will be certified as official Church of God Migration Crisis Initiative representatives at the end of the seminar, and graduates of the seminar will begin to work together in a coordinated effort to engage in tangible initiatives to serve the needs of our immigrant communities in the local church.

The two-day seminar cost is $25.00. Those who are interested in taking the extended CLS course need to contact the PTS Center for Latino Studies office for enrollment and pricing. To register for the training seminar, please call Yamitza Lopez at the PTS CLS office at (423) 478-7675, or register online by clicking here. [1]
