Groups Join to Provide $1 Million in Scholarships

The College of Biblical Studies and the National Baptist Convention, USA have joined together to recruit up to 200 young men who can meet scholarship criteria.

The Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program offers fully paid tuition for an associate and/or bachelor’s degree for young men 17-30 years old who have graduated from high school or earned a GED and grew up without a father actively involved in their life. Other requirements include being members in good standing and accountable to an NBCUSAINC church, and the ability to purchase books and learn in an online environment.

CBS President Dr. Bill Blocker believes this scholarship provides a much-needed opportunity for young men who deserve a chance to succeed in life. “CBS is uniquely training and preparing students through the truth of God’s Word. Graduates incorporate and apply life changing biblical values in families, communities, ministries, and businesses around the world. Partnering with NBCUSAINC means we will be able to reach many young men wanting this opportunity.”

Dr. Jerry Young, president of the NBCUSAINC, says, “Our convention is solidly committed to the empowerment and uplift of all peoples, particularly, young people, through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We see our partnership with CBS as an additional way for us to provide a biblically grounded college education through a program specifically designed to help young men who, through no fault of their own, need to be given the chance to earn a college degree that will make a world of difference in their life outcomes.”
