Former Church Leader Harris Passes Away

Rev. B. Gary Harris, a retired ordained bishop in the Church of God, passed away on November 9, 2020. He was a member of Spring Creek Church of God, and served in multiple ministry capacities with the Church of God.

Beginning his ministry in 1966, Bro. Harris was married to Dorlene for 52 years and they had three children, Kevin, Phillip, and Amy. He received degrees from Lee College (now Lee University) and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. He served as a state youth and Christian education director in the states of South Carolina, Mississippi, West Virginia, North and South Georgia. In 2007 he was appointed administrative bishop to Alaska, and in 2010 to the Pacific Northwest region. He also served as administrative coordinator in the Evangelism and Home Missions Department of the Church of God from 1998-2006.

In addition to their three children, Gary and Dorlene are grandparents to eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and known for his love for God, people, and music.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private. However, friends are invited to visit www.heritagebattlefield.com [2] to attend a virtual funeral service at 1:00 PM Friday, November 13, 2020, as well as share words of comfort with the family on the Tribute Wall.
