Lee Homecoming to Begin Next Friday

Cleveland, TN–Lee University’s virtual Homecoming, “Forever a Flame,” will begin Friday, Nov. 13, and celebrate alumni through Sunday, Nov. 15.

“Because our alumni family can’t come home this year, we are bringing home to them,” said Dr. Susan Ashcraft, director of alumni relations.

The Homecoming celebration will kick off Friday morning at 10 with the Fan the Flame Leadership Summit, featuring sessions led by alumni leaders discussing the best practices and strategies of leadership in specific career arenas. Dr. Paul Conn, Lee University chancellor, will be the keynote speaker.

The Forever a Flame entertainment event on Friday evening will feature new and traditional elements of Homecoming such as alumni stories and music from a variety of ensembles, including the Lee University Singers, Lee Evangelistic Singers, Ladies of Lee, and Lee’s Symphonic Band. The evening will conclude with a broadcast of a reunion performance by LeeU Worship, including current members and alumni.

On Friday evening, attendees will also celebrate the launch of the Lee 1918 Society website, the new Lee alumni association. Membership will unlock access to exclusive content, including a masterclass series by Lee faculty, motivational content and career resources for new alumni, and discounts on a wide variety of Lee and community-based items and venues.

Saturday morning will begin with the Homecoming Viking Dash: Run/Walk Virtual 5k. Alumni are encouraged to participate by wearing Lee gear and sharing photos on social media when they complete the 5k from anywhere in the world.

Homecoming weekend will continue with a special video segment of the History of Lee Presidents followed by a conversation between three past and present Lee presidents: Conn, Dr. Lamar Vest, and Dr. Mark Walker.

During a “We Are Lee” broadcast Saturday afternoon, the senior Homecoming Court will be celebrated and showcase the crowning of the Homecoming Queen, in addition to a time of appreciation for Lee volleyball coach Angela Hudson on her 30 years of service on staff.

That evening, the distinguished and honorary alumni and department alum winners will also be announced, and a new Voices of Lee music video will be broadcasted, featuring an original song and singer/songwriter Babbie Mason, an artist in residence at Lee.

“We plan to celebrate Homecoming big,” said Dr. Brad Moffett, vice president for university relations.

The weekend celebration will conclude Sunday morning with an alumni-led worship service broadcasted live from the Lee Chapel with both in-person and video segments.

The Forever a Flame Silent Auction will begin Thursday evening at 6 and end at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, showcasing over 75 items, including vintage Lee memorabilia, that attendees can submit bids for. The list of featured items includes a Paul Conn bobblehead, reserved on-campus parking for one year, LeeU and Lee athletic gear, an autographed tie by Conn, and tickets to local attractions.

The entire week will be a celebration of Lee graduates, including an alumni-led chapel service Thursday morning for the entire Lee community.
