Sevierville, TN–The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) has been commemorating their centennial this year with plans to celebrate during a signature event in December.
“Planning creative ways to celebrate has been a difficult task during a year marked with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic,” stated Dr. Walt Mauldin, executive director of the SMCH. “Several celebratory events have been postponed including the October 27 benefit dinner and auction. A special letter has already been sent to all Church of God pastors, denominational leadership and community participants regarding this announcement.”
“With all of this in mind, we are moving forward with a Centennial Christmas Celebration scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2020,” Mauldin continued. “We are delighted to announce Dr. Tim Hill, our general overseer, will be the featured speaker along with special guests Steve Allen and the Westmore Singers.”
Mauldin went on to say the celebration will be held at the Sevierville Convention Center and the convention center staff have gone to great lengths to provide computerized temperature screenings, social distancing at each table, and specific mask requirements according to CDC guidelines. The event is free, and a centennial love offering will be received at the conclusion of the evening.
Anyone interested in joining in the celebration event is asked to email an RSVP prior to Monday, November 30 to [email protected] or by calling the SMCH office: 865.453.4644 Ext. 118 to register.
