Scripture Sweets is the answer to the question of how to start a meaningful dialogue about the Bible. It’s not a Bible tract, but a milk chocolate candy bar with scripture on the packaging.
Scripture Sweets is a chocolate treat to give as a gift while introducing biblical principles. The scriptures change depending upon on the occasion or holiday, such as Easter Sunday, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthday, anniversary, pastor or Valentine’s Day.
Scripture Sweets are milk chocolate bars wrapped in scripture and packaged in a box designed to remind people of the Bible. A red ribbon which can be used as a bookmark complements the look. Each “Bible” contains 3 chocolate bars.
Shelley Obilam, Scripture Sweets founder, came up with the idea while searching for ways to reach her Sunday school classes. “I wanted to find a creative way to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my students,” said Shelley. “I figured that turning down a scripture by refusing to eat a chocolate bar would be rare.” From this seed, Scripture Sweets was born.
“Scripture Sweets is a great conversation piece with an uplifting message,” Shelley added.
As a novice entrepreneur, Shelley’s story of creating Scripture Sweets is a testament to her faith. She was served many, many no’s. Instead, through determination and tedious research she discovered chocolate manufacturers who could make custom high-quality chocolate bars with specialized wrappings.
Finally, she received a yes to begin Scripture Sweets.
“When you are involved in ministry, you are always faced with the question – How do I win souls for Christ without being too pushy or annoying?” Obilam said. “Jesus said to preach the Gospel, but who will listen?”
When the occasion arises for giving someone a “scripture” treat as a birthday gift, Valentine’s Day gift, Anniversary or even to recognize your pastor, Scripture Sweets will serve as enjoyment with the intent to spread God’s word and His message of love.
