Operation Compassion Partners with Transition House

Cleveland, TN–Operation Compassion recently partnered with Transition House, a ministry to unwed mothers to bridge the gap between crisis assistance during pregnancy and becoming an established and self-sufficient young family.

Operation Compassion, an independent benevolent organization with roots in the Church of God, is providing furnishings, household items and other supplies as needed in an on-going partnership with Transition House. The House is a ministry of U-Turn Institute, another benevolent organization which capitalizes on the stories of people making a significant impact on others in the community. Located in Cleveland, to protect privacy, Transition House is a secure facility without a published address.

The house remodeling is being overseen by a Men/Women of Action team led by Harry Dale and Fred Watson of the Westmore Church of God, another partner in the Transition House ministry. The MWOA team gutted and rebuilt the house to accommodate several mothers and their children. Gale Beach was recently hired as a house mother. She is a single mom licensed as a social worker.

Westmore Church recently relocated across town to a new campus and the former church property is now home to U-Turn Institute.

Transition House is led by director, Debbie Page, whose story is one of love and redemption. As a young lady she became an unwed mother, but through the love of her family and church, she received the support necessary to help her navigate the troubled waters of single motherhood. At the right time, Debbie married and her husband adopted her son to complete a divine circle of redemption. Because of her story, Page is compelled to help young women navigate through single motherhood, especially those who do not have the love and support from family.

“The single moms come in [to Transition House] on social assistance, but leave self-sufficient and independent with jobs and housing,” Debbie Page stated. “We want to be a part of building their dreams with love and hope.”
