Lee University Celebrates Convocation This week

Lee University students, faculty, and staff are continuing a long tradition this week as they are coming together for a time of spiritual reflection during this semester’s Convocation. Services began on Sunday, Feb. 9, with a message from Lee University President Dr. Paul Conn and will conclude tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 13, with a performance by the Kingdom Players in Conn Center.

“I always look forward with great anticipation to what God is going to do,” said Rob Fultz, Lee’s campus pastor. “The expectation of God’s presence and power is substantial, and I believe Convocation is a defining moment in the lives of our students.”

On Monday evening, Lee welcomed Pastor Tony Stewart. Stewart is the senior pastor of citylife church, a 4,000-member, multi-campus, multi-racial, multi-generational church that is in the Tampa Bay area. Citylife church has been named by Outreach Magazine and Lifeway Research as one of the fastest growing churches in America.

Mo Isom, a New York Times bestselling author, shared in both Tuesday morning and evening services. Isom is a speaker, faith-based blogger, former All-American soccer goalkeeper, and the first woman to have trained with and try out for an SEC men’s football team.

Tonight, Feb. 12, Dr. Mark Walker will share the message. In addition to serving as a vice president at Lee, Walker is the chair of Lee’s Department of Christian Ministries, and was named last month as the new president of Lee University to succeed President Conn later this summer. Prior to joining Lee’s administration, Walker served as the senior pastor of Mount Paran North in Marietta, Georgia.

Convocation will conclude on Thursday morning with a performance by the Lee University Kingdom Players in the Conn Center. The group is the university’s premier traveling drama team, traveling throughout the year ministering at churches, youth groups, conferences, and youth camps presenting exciting, humorous, and dramatic skits based on the Bible. Anna Shippey, an associate professor of political science, will speak in Dixon Center.

For those unable to be present, live stream viewing will be available at www.leeuniversity.edu.
