Church of God World Missions Releases Bahamas Update

The birthplace of Church of God World Missions’ ministry was the Bahamas in 1910 and they currently have 73 churches, over 6,000 members, and 184 pastors.

A great calamity struck that nation as Hurricane Dorian ravaged the Bahamas and destroyed much of the country. Our brothers and sisters there urgently need our help.

Our overseer of the Bahamas, Moses Johnson, described the tremendous devastation and destruction they have experienced and the urgent needs this storm has created. Many of our churches and parsonages have been destroyed and they are still accounting for lives that have been lost. The needs are overwhelming!

Major damage and loss of property has occurred especially throughout Abaco and Grand Bahama Island and, because of the difficulty with communication and transportation to these areas, we do not have a lot of specific details at this point other than the needs are overwhelming to emergency personnel.

Together, we have the ability to be among the first to offer aid and recovery for our brothers and sisters. We openly call every Christian and supporter of Church of God World Missions to pray fervently for restoration. We also call you to join us in being a part of the solution by giving to disaster relief. You can donate on the Church of God World Missions website (www.cogwm.org) to Project Number: 765-0036. 100% of what is donated will go to the Bahamas to assist in their recovery and rebuilding which is being coordinated by our Field Director for the Caribbean, Ishmael Charles, and Overseer Johnson.

Video appeals prepared by the Director of World Missions, Dr. David Griffis, and Assistant Director, Dr. M. Thomas Propes, are available at the following links: https://vimeo.com/357643512 and https://vimeo.com/357910317. We also update our social media (@cogwm) as we receive additional information and reports. The Church of God Bahamas has video updates available on their Facebook page as well.

Thank you for supporting and standing with World Missions and the Church of God in the Bahamas!
