Wilson, an ordained bishop with the Church of God, was elected earlier this week at PWF’s triennial convention in Alberta, Canada. He was elevated from the executive committee of the organization and will serve for at least the next three years with a group of more than 30 advisory committee members who represent a wide spectrum of Pentecostal organizations, a movement that boasts more than 600 million adherents worldwide.

Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill serves on the Advisory Committee for PWF.

“This is a singular honor and one that is well deserved, reflecting your dedication to and leadership of the contemporary Pentecostal movement,” Hill stated in a letter of congratulations to Wilson. “I am reminded of your roots in the Church of God of Prophecy and the cooperative agreement with the Church of God several years ago. Your leadership in that period set the stage for other doors of opportunity that would direct your ministry path.”

After serving in the cooperative agreement post, Wilson went on to lead the centennial celebration of the Azusa Street Revival in 2006. He then directed the International Center for Spiritual Renewal, where the vision was cast for Empowered21, an initiative that brings together ministry leaders, scholars, and next-generation voices from the Spirit-empowered movement. Since 2013, Wilson has served as the fourth president of ORU.

“This honor bestowed upon me by such an esteemed group of world leaders is humbling,” Wilson stated. “The Pentecostal World Fellowship has such a rich history of leadership of the Pentecostal movement and I look forward to advancing its mission to complete the Great Commission.”

Wilson also serves on various boards and committees, including the Mission America Coalition (Lausanne USA) Facilitation Committee, the Board for the National Association of Evangelicals and the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.

Wilson attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky where he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He also attended the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he earned a Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Prior to his election as president, Wilson was vice chairman of the ORU Board of Trustees.
