Azusa Lecture, Award Winner Announced

Cleveland, TN–Dr. David Roebuck, director of the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, recently announced the annual Azusa Lecture Series event is set for Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at North Cleveland Church of God’s Dixon Chapel.

Lee University’s Dr. Lisa Stephenson will present the lecture on the topic of benevolence ministries, a subject that will tie in with the announced winner of the 2019 Spirit of Azusa Award to Rev. David Lorency. Since 2000, Lorency has served as executive director of Operation Compassion, an independent disaster relief charity that delivers more than 1,500 semi-truck loads of relief supplies each year and is regularly ranked as one of the top relief agencies in the country. Stephenson is Professor of Systematic Theology at Lee and has directed Lee’s campus-wide benevolence program since 2011.

The lecture and award presentation will inaugurate a yearlong emphasis on care ministries that will include the International General Assembly Heritage Exhibit on the theme “Unto the Least of These” and will conclude with a centennial celebration of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in December 2020.
