NYLA Conference Set for This Week

The National Youth Leaders Association (NYLA) will hold their annual conference at the Ramsey Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. on May 2-4, 2019.

The purpose of NYLA is to provide a forum for youth leaders to exchange ideas, and promote cohesive working relationships on the local, regional, state and national level. NYLA is administered through the General Director of Youth and Discipleship and the NYLA Executive Board of the Church of God and consists of seven elected board members, with six student pastors, and one state youth and discipleship director. NYLA membership is obtained by attending the NYLA Conference or any other NYLA sponsored event. Membership is open regardless of denominational background.

“Here at NYLA we also want to provide free resources and video training to help better equip a youth leader’s ministry,” stated Rob Bailey, assistant director of Youth and Discipleship for the Church of God and liaison to NYLA. “Our main focus is to network and encourage the health of Youth Ministry as a whole. Providing the NYLA conference promotes several of NYLA’s core values.” Those core values include training, marketing, connecting, social networking, resourcing and communicating.

Keynote speakers for this week’s conference include Heath Eslinger, a nationally-recognized wrestling coach who is now associated with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Chris Estrada, Director of Youth For The Nations at Christ For The Nations Institute. They will be joined by other breakout speakers for such sessions as “Balancing Time and Commitment,” How Not to Get Sued,” and “Student Ministry in the 21st Century.” The schedule will also include a “NYLA Give Back” at the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tenn., and other activities.
